The Wedding Singer (1998) - Movie Grabber

The Wedding Singer Grabber

The Wedding Singer can be quickly described as a romance comedy taking place during the 80's with a Adam Sandler spin. Although the plot is a basic out-of-the-box love story, I am not completely convinced it was not meant to be. The two meant-to-be lovers (Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore) are both believable and easy to like. You will witness some fairly humorous scenes peppered with "awww" moments. Adam Sandler plays a familiar role, and you can expect the type of romance movie that is considered "cute" or "sweet".

The Breakfast Club Grabber

The Breakfast Club is a movie about five high school students who are required to attend a detention beginning on a Saturday morning. The entirety of this movie is a span of only this detention, giving it room on the time-frame for plenty of detail and realism. Socially, these students have had little to do each other prior to this detention and each has been reprimanded for their own demerit. Each main character fits the stereotype in which the other students perceive them. You have the princess (Ringwald), the jock (Estevez), the geek (Hall), the outlaw (Nelson), and finally the recluse (Sheedy). Mr. Vernon, the detention teacher, also fitting the stereotype of a detention teacher, acts as a common enemy amongst this awkward group, aiding in the distraction of each other's differences. Free of their peers, social stigma is diminished enabling you to enjoy these rich and unique interactions and adventures that would normally never exist between these stereotypes.

Blade (1998) - Movie Grabber

Blade Grabber

Wesley Snipes stars in this vampire movie as vampire-human hybrid called Blade. While pregnant, Blade's mother is bitten by a vampire. Although she dies during childbirth, it isn't until she has passed many vampiric traits onto her unborn son. Originally a Marvel Comics character, Blade despises the evils of vampirism and has dedicated his life to hunting and destroying these abominations. Being blessed with the beneficial attributes of both species, Blade shares all of the vampire's strengths while receiving none of their weaknesses. This movie qualifies as more action than horror and you can expect to see plenty of well choreographed and graphic fight scenes filled with vampire slaying. Unlike most movies of this action/horror genre, Blade does not come across as light, exaggerated, and inconsequential. Instead, this film is dark, graphic, violent, and absent of comical relief. Its R rating is something normally rare amongst comic book movies. Watch Blade and see a quality, fast-pasted, good vs. evil, superhero, vampire flick.

Casablanca (1950) - Movie Grabber

Casablanca Grabber

During the peak of World War II, people from all over the world were attempting to flee into the United States as Germany and its allies continued to invade foreign borders. Axis powers controlled all major methods of transportation, but if you were wealthy enough, powerful enough, or crafty enough and could make it to Casablanca, there was still a chance of escape. Most people who reached Casablanca, however, were unable to get any farther, forming Casablanca into a stirring and overcrowded multicultural hub. Occupied by a loose society with nothing to lose and filled with desperate ideas on how to escape to the United States, Casablanca was considered a very dangerous place. Our main character, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), is a solemn and abrupt ex freedom fighter who established a high class nightclub in Casablanca. Having never accepted an invitation to have a drink with a patron, Rick is generally regarded as all business, far from friendly, and void of emotion. It isn't until the unexpected arrival of a particular individual from Rick's past does everything change. One of the most beloved American films of all time, Casablanca is most definitely of "classic" status and a great tribute to American filmography. Here's lookin' at you, kid.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire Grabber

Milo Thatch, an intelligent and ambitious young man, attends the boiler at a local library. His late grandfather, Thadius Thatch, dedicated his life to discovering the lost underwater city of Atlantis and Milo uses the resources of the library to continue his grandfather's research. Having neither of them found it, many now regard Thadius to have been crazy and Milo to be misguided. However, due to Milo's expertise in this subject, he is summoned by a very wealthy old friend of Thadius'. Milo is informed that he has prepared an extremely expensive and technologically advanced expedition to traverse the depths of the sea in an effort to reach Atlantis. An invitation is extended to Milo as his knowledge on the subject would be invaluable. Although a Disney movie, there is no song and dance in this film. The style of animation is also different to other Disney movies. The characters have sharp and emphasized features and fits the feel of the movie well. There is plenty of action, a humorous dialogue and a strong message, similar to what you would find in a James Cameron film. Overall I found this movie to be wholesome and refreshing with a great rewatch factor.
